Kingston Council to Consider Fine Amounts for Short-Term Rental Licensing Bylaw

City staff are now recommending fines of $250, $500 and $750 plus court costs for violations of the Short-term Rental Licensing Bylaw.

Currently, people who violate municipal bylaws are issued with a summons to provincial offences court, where they could face a fine of between $500 and $10,000.

It is a costly and time-consuming process for city staff and could be streamlined by having the fine amount set.
